  • Spb Kiosk Introduction Spb Kiosk Introduction

Spb Kiosk is an enterprise tool which helps you control how your Pocket PC devices are used. With Spb Kiosk you can lock the device to one or several business applications and restrict usage of any other features like games, multimedia, web browsing etc.

Benefits of using Spb Kiosk are:

    • Improved productivity. Users do not get distracted by entertainment features of Pocket PC devices and so put more time into work.
    • Reduced technical support costs. Users cannot accidentally corrupt settings on the device, install programs which are not compatible with your business software etc. This helps to avoid a lot of support incidents.

How it works How it works

Device administrator specifies applications to run in kiosk mode and configures other settings using desktop-side Kiosk Builder application. Spb Kiosk can be used with most enterprise applications, both native and managed (based on .NET Compact Framework).

Then Kiosk Builder produces customized Kiosk CAB file which can be deployed to as many devices as needed. After Spb Kiosk is deployed on a device, it provides kiosk mode for selected applications. Easy!

Spb Kiosk keeps the device in kiosk mode using a number of advanced software technologies, including:

    • Kernel-level application block
    • Control Panel applet block
    • Taskbar block
    • Start menu block

Spb Kiosk Terminal Features Spb Kiosk Terminal Features

Spb Kiosk Terminal provides kiosk mode for Terminal Services Client. Kiosk Terminal allows you to create kiosks that run an application from a Windows NT/2000 Terminal Server.

Features of Spb Kiosk Terminal include:

    • Full screen mode
    • Autoconnect to Terminal server

Together with kiosk mode autoconnect feature dramatically simplifies system support. A Pocket PC with Spb Kiosk Terminal installed is a system that is always connected to the Terminal Server. Such a system is much simpler for support and maintenance than a normal Pocket PC with Terminal Service Client.

    Admin mode Admin mode

Spb Kiosk allows device administrator to gain unrestricted access to the device. This is useful to fix something or to change settings after Spb Kiosk is already deployed.

To enter admin mode tap and hold the stylus for 10 seconds anywhere on the screen and then enter your secret unlock code (specified in Kiosk Builder).
