  • What is my device ID?

    Your device ID is required with some orders to generate a registration key for your app. The device ID is your Pocket PC or Smartphone Owner name (Windows Mobile devices), or your hot sync ID (Palm OS devices) or your Blackberry PIN (for Blackberry devices).

    To find the Pocket PC Owner Name:
    • Turn on your device
    • Select the Start menu, then select "Settings"
    • Select "Owner Information"

    Your Owner Name will be in the Name field. If no value is present in the Name field, you may assign your Pocket PC or Windows Mobile Smartphone an Owner Name directly by entering your desired value into this field and saving.

    NOTE: The device ID is both case and space sensitive. It is important to communicate your Owner Name exactly in order to receive accurate fulfillment information.

    To find the Palm hot sync ID:
    • From the main Applications screen, locate and tap on the HotSync program icon
    • Note the name at the upper right - that is your Hot Sync User ID
    • Alternatively, you may locate it within the Palm Desktop software at the upper right hand corner to the right of the selected User ID
    To find the Blackberry PIN:
    • In the Home screen on your BlackBerry, scroll to and click the OPTIONS icon
    • The Device Options screen appears. Scroll to and click STATUS
    • In the Status screen, scroll to the PIN (format will be 8-digits in hexadecimal form, 0-F)

    My registration code does not work!

    If you have purchased an app and the registration code provided does not work, the most common reason is the Hot Sync ID, Pocket PC Owner Name or Blackberry PIN in your account is incorrect. Please make sure the Hot Sync ID, Pocket PC Owner Name or Blackberry PIN in your account matches what is on your device. Having accurate information in your PocketGear account will ensure any registration code generated with your order will work. If you have received an incorrect registration code please update the hot sync ID, Pocket PC Owner Name or Blackberry PIN in your PocketGear account. After updating your account please contact us so we can generate a new registration code for you.

    To locate your Hot Sync ID (Palm OS devices):

    • Tap on the HotSync icon on your palm applications screen.
    • Note the name at the upper right. That is your Hotsync ID.

    To locate your Pocket PC Owner Name (Windows Mobile Touch Screen devices):

    • Go to Start on your device
    • Go to Settings
    • Go to Owner Information (on the "Personal" tab)
    • Whatever is in the "Name" field is your Owner Name

    To locate your Blackberry PIN:

    • Go to options on your Blackberry
    • Go to Status from the options menu

  • How do I download my software

    You may login and redownload software that has been purchased from PocketGear from the My Account page. After logging in click the "Past Purchases" link to view your downloads and registration information.

    If you are experiencing difficulty in downloading titles, please make sure that your web browser or firewall is not preventing downloads. This is especially important to consider if you are operating Windows XP Service Pack 2. Web browsers, firewalls, and antivirus software can in some cases prevent the download of .exe and .zip files due to security settings.

    PocketGear recommends that you use a standard browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox when downloading titles. Custom browsers (AOL, MSN, NetZero, and others) may implement strict security measures that often interfere or prevent successful file downloads.

    If you continue to have difficulty downloading files, please ensure that "cookies" are enabled in your browser and that your temporary internet files/cache has been cleared recently. Please review your web browser's help documentation for assistance with enabling cookies and clearing your temporary internet files should these steps not be familiar.

  • Searching and browsing

    Finding titles for your device on PocketGear is easier than ever! You may browse content through the drop-down category menus at the top of the page, through promotional pages like our Hot Deals! area, or by utilizing the search engine located on the left of the site.

    We also recommend that you utilize the device filtering function located in the upper left. Through this function, you may filter results based upon titles specifically compatible with your selected device. For even more results, you may filter by your device's OS.

    NOTE: When browsing by OS, PocketGear encourages you to utilize any trial versions of titles if provided to ensure compatibility with your individual device prior to purchase

  • Can you recommend a title for me to purchase?

    PocketGear is proud to represent a full catalog to our customers, with a variety of titles to serve many needs. Due to the number of individual titles that we represent, however, we cannot provide specific guidance on which product may be best suited for your specific needs.

    We encourage you to decide on what application is best for your needs by utilizing provided trial versions if offered and through reviewing user reviews and ratings

  • How do I download titles from PocketGear?

    Need help with SMS (Text Message) delivery?

    When you select the SMS delivery option for a trial version or to receive a purchased title you will be prompted for the name of your carrier and your mobile phone number. Shortly after providing us with this information you will receive a text message on your mobile phone which will include a download link for the file. Click the download link in the text message to download the file to your mobile phone. The installation process should begin as soon as the download is finished. If the installation doesn't start automatically then locate the file that was downloaded on the mobile phone and start the installation manually.

    Need help with eMail delivery?

    When you select eMail delivery for a trial version or for a purchased title you will be sent an email from support@pocketgear.com with a download link to the file. Click the link in the email to download the file to your PC. You will need to connect your device to your desktop computer to install the software. Most installation files will start on the desktop computer and copy the program to the mobile device.

    Free Trial Downloads

    In many cases, trial versions for titles are provided for your evaluation prior to purchase. Download links for trial versions (when available) are located directly below the "Add to Cart" button on the product description page. NOTE: You will need to be logged in to your account in order to access free trials. After clicking on the Free Trial download link, the file should begin the download process to your PC automatically.

    Downloading Purchased Titles from Your Account

    After logging in to your PocketGear customer account, you may access your prior purchases through the "My Account" link in the upper right of the site. Selecting "My Purchase History" allows you to view and re-download any purchases you have already made. Simply select "Re-Download" for the product you wish to access. The file download will begin automatically.

  • How will I get my purchased title?

    All purchases made through PocketGear are delivered through direct download from your account. Once you complete your purchase, a download button will appear to the right of the purchased title.

    EXAMPLE

    Simply click on the DOWNLOAD button to start downloading your title. NOTE: Please be sure to allow popups from PocketGear, as your download will initiate from a separate popup box.

  • What is my product activation code?

    You may retrieve your product activation code from the My Account area through the My Purchase History section. There you will see a Product Activation link associated with each of your purchased products.

    NOTE: If a product reflects the message "This product does not require a registration code.", it is a full version download and does not require an activation code. Please remove/uninstall any trial version you may have installed to your device, then install the full version downloaded from the "Re-download" link.

    If the activation code that you receive is not functioning properly, it is likely due to a discrepancy in your communicated device ID value. Please refer to the "What is my Device ID" section of the Tips and Troubleshooting help page and contact Customer Service for help in delivering an accurate fulfillment key.

  • How do I use a coupon/promotional code?

    After adding a title to the shopping cart, you may enter any applicable coupon/promotion code to be applied in the "Enter Coupon Code" field. Once entered completely, click "Apply" to reflect the savings onto your cart. Be sure to enter any coupon/promotional codes exactly as communicated, as they are case sensitive.
